The role:

The World Aquatics Training Centre in Bahrain is seeking a qualified Strength & Conditioning Coach for its expanding swimming and diving scholarship programme.

Working under the Head Coach and alongside the Scholarship Programme Manager, the role supports the physical preparation of scholarship swimmers and divers through structured training, injury prevention, and performance optimisation within a high-performance environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Programme Management & Strength & Conditioning Delivery

  • Support the Head Coach in designing and delivering daily training sessions for swimmers and divers.
  • Contribute to the Annual Performance Plan and ongoing performance monitoring and evaluation.
  • Design and deliver sport-specific strength, conditioning, mobility, and physical preparation programmes.
  • Implement load management and monitoring systems to optimise adaptation and reduce injury risk.
  • Collaborate with medical and physiotherapy staff on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-performance.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary planning with coaching, sports science, and medical teams.
  • Monitor athlete fatigue, readiness, and physical development using testing and tracking tools.
  • Provide input into injury prevention strategies specific to swimming and diving biomechanics and load profiles.
  • Support training camps and competitions to ensure athletes maintain optimal physical preparation and performance readiness.
  • Maintain performance tracking data and contribute to internal reporting.
  • Educate athletes on recovery, training habits, and performance optimisation.


High-Performance Coaching Contribution:

  • Support the Bahrain Development Programme objectives within a high-performance environment focused on excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff and provide feedback to the Head Coach on athlete condition, progress, and readiness.
  • Contribute to training effectiveness and athlete development while promoting professionalism, accountability, and a performance-driven culture.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and cultural awareness in a safe, supportive, and diverse environment.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.


Administrative & Performance Support:

  • Maintain accurate training records, testing data, performance logs, and internal reporting documentation.
  • Support preparation of performance reports, training schedules, and programme evaluations.
  • Assist communication and coordination between coaching, performance, and support teams.


Travel & Competition Support:

  • Provide strength and conditioning support during training camps and competitions.
  • Support athlete readiness during travel periods and assist with performance logistics.


Miscellaneous Programme Support:

  • Support operational tasks to ensure smooth programme delivery.
  • Provide support to the Head Coach to maintain training continuity when required.

Profile required

Experience & Skills:

  • Degree in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
  • Recognised S&C certification (e.g. NSCA CSCS or equivalent preferred).
  • Proven experience working in elite or high-performance swimming and/or diving environments.
  • Experience within structured athlete development or national/international performance programmes.
  • Strong understanding of training periodisation, load management, and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with injury prevention principles in aquatic sports.
  • Knowledge of anti-doping policies and commitment to clean sport practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and data management capability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-performance environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for competitions and training camps.
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an advantage.


Start Date: Q3 2026.

Location: Bahrain.
