The Associate Director will report to the Head of Credit Solutions and member of the Madrid-based Private Credit team, supporting the development and execution of the Group’s private credit strategy. The platform focuses on originating and investing in loans and hybrid instruments across the capital structure, typically within €50–250 million ticket sizes, through both programmatic and opportunistic transactions.
The role contributes across the full investment lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, structuring, execution, and portfolio monitoring. The individual will work closely with senior team members in a lean team environment, with direct exposure to investment decision-making processes and regular interaction with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
The investment approach prioritises opportunities supported by strong asset collateral, leveraging the Group’s broader capabilities and experience in real assets, although the strategy is not exclusively asset-focused.
Responsibilities & Duties:
• Build and own complex financial models with scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess risk, return, and downside protection
• Prepare and present high-quality investment materials for internal committees and external stakeholders
• Monitor and manage portfolio positions, producing regular performance reports and flagging material developments
• Engage directly with management teams, advisors, and financing parties as part of transaction processes
• Contribute to the development of internal processes, tools, and databases as the platform scales
Qualifications
• Strong academic background, preferably in a finance-related (e.g. finance and accounting, economics, business & law, etc.) or quantitative discipline (e.g. engineering)
• Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish
Experience
• 5-7 years of experience within investment banking, ideally in a credit-focused role (e.g. leveraged finance, debt & M&A advisory, credit fund)
• Background in asset-backed financing and/or capital-intensive sectors (e.g. energy, infrastructure, transportation) is highly valuable
