Job description
As Second Captain, you support the First Captain in managing the vessel and assume full responsibility in their absence. You combine strong nautical expertise with a hands-on mindset, playing a key role in navigation, crew supervision, and operational decision-making. Your leadership is vital to ensuring safety, efficiency, and maintaining a well-functioning, cohesive team on board.
Profile required
QUALIFICATION(S)
· Valid Rhine patent (Zones 5 and/or 7 is a strong advantage) or Large navigation patent
· Radar patent
· VHF certificate
· ADN Basic certificate
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
· Proven experience as Captain on inland tanker vessels
· Strong knowledge of technical, nautical and legal requirements
· Strong knowledge of safety prevention measures
· Qualified knowledge of the hazardous properties and characteristics of dangerous substances
· Good knowledge of German
· Strong communication and teamwork skill
