(Senior) Payload Manager (m/f/d)
Job description
Atmos Space Cargo is seeking a Senior Payload Manager to lead payload operations and customer management across Phoenix missions, from contract signature through launch, in-orbit operations, and mission close-out. In this role, you will act as the central interface between customers, engineering, operations, and commercial teams, ensuring safe, compliant, and successful payload integration and execution.
Key responsibilities
- You will manage key payload customer accounts end-to-end, acting as the primary point of contact from contract signature to mission completion.
- You will lead payload mission integration activities, including interface definition, technical coordination, and alignment with spacecraft and ground segment teams.
- You will oversee payload safety documentation, compliance with applicable standards, and preparation and execution of technical and programmatic reviews.
- You will coordinate internal stakeholders across systems engineering, operations, avionics, and flight teams to ensure on-time and on-spec payload delivery.
- You will support commercial activities by contributing to pricing, proposal development, and mission manifest planning based on payload constraints and opportunities.
- You will ensure consistency, quality, and best practices across payload projects, improving internal processes and documentation where needed.
- You will mentor and support junior team members, fostering technical excellence and a strong mission-oriented culture within the payload team.
Profile required
- 5+ years of experience in payload, mission, or systems management within the space sector (e.g. ESA, CNES, Airbus, OHB, or similar organizations).
- Strong knowledge of payload integration processes, interfaces, and applicable spaceflight standards.
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a fast-moving, safety-critical environment.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and customer-facing skills.
- Fluent in English; French or German is a strong plus.
