Job description
ATMOS Space Cargo is looking for an Intern in Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) to support the assembly, integration, and verification of our Phoenix spacecraft.
As part of the AIT team, you will work directly with spacecraft hardware and gain hands-on experience with how space systems move from engineering design into physical integration and testing. You will support our engineers throughout the build and test process and take ownership of defined technical tasks and smaller AIT projects.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand how spacecraft are actually built, tested, and prepared for flight.
Key responsibilities
- You will support the assembly and integration of spacecraft hardware and subsystems
- You will prepare and maintain integration areas, tools, equipment, and materials
- You will support incoming inspections and quality checks of flight and test hardware
- You will assist with mechanical and electrical integration activities
- You will prepare and execute test procedures together with the AIT engineering team
- You will support functional and environmental testing of spacecraft components and systems
- You will document assembly, integration, and test activities and evaluate test results
- You will support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis when issues occur during integration or testing
- You will take ownership of defined AIT improvement projects, such as tooling, test setups, documentation, or workshop processes
Profile required
- Currently studying Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical field
- Strong interest in spacecraft hardware, manufacturing, integration, and testing
- Hands-on mindset and confidence working with mechanical and/or electrical tools
- Structured and careful working style with a strong awareness of quality
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings, technical documentation, or measurement equipment is a plus
- Previous practical experience through university projects, Formula Student, rocketry, robotics, workshops, or similar activities is a strong plus
- Fluent in English; German is a plus
Internship duration: preferably 6 months
